Thanks for the detailed response! My car's at 73993 KM, and I just had it serviced last month. I'm getting the "Dynamic Drive malfunction" error code, and it happens pretty much every time I start the car now. Tried switching between Sport and Comfort modes, but the suspension feels equally soft in both. Haven't tested in Sport+ yet. Definitely planning to take it to a specialist, but wanted to get some community feedback first to avoid getting overcharged. That cable issue you mentioned sounds promising, much better than having to replace the entire EDC system!

Hey again! Just saw your update about the mileage and error code. Yeah, mine was showing the exact same "Dynamic Drive malfunction" message when I had that cable problem. My M4 had around 68000 KM at the time, so pretty similar mileage to yours. The fact that it happens right at startup and affects both Sport and Comfort modes is exactly what I experienced too. The cable connection issue basically prevents the EDC from properly adjusting the dampers, which explains the constant soft suspension feel you're getting. I'd definitely stick with your plan to see a specialist. Since you mentioned being worried about getting overcharged, when I took mine in, I specifically asked them to check the EDC connections first before diving into more expensive repairs. Having that cable issue diagnosed and fixed was way cheaper than I initially feared. One thing I learned from my experience, don't wait too long to get it fixed. I drove around with the issue for a couple weeks, and it started affecting the handling more and more. The constant soft suspension isn't just annoying, it can actually impact your car's stability, especially during harder cornering. Let me know what the specialist finds. Would be interesting to see if it's the same issue I had!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It's super reassuring to hear someone else had the same symptoms and got it fixed without breaking the bank. I've actually booked an appointment with a specialist for next week, definitely taking your advice about not waiting too long. You're right about the handling concerns; I've already noticed it feels a bit wobbly around corners. I'll make sure to ask them to check those EDC connections first, just like you suggested. Really hoping it's just the cable issue, fingers crossed! Can't believe I was stressing about potentially having to replace the whole system when it might be something this straightforward. I'll update the forum once I get it sorted, in case anyone else runs into the same problem. Thanks again for all the detailed info, you've definitely helped calm my nerves about this whole situation!

Hey there! I've got some experience working on BMWs and had a similar issue with my 2014 M4 last year. The symptoms you're describing sound really familiar. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the EDC (Electronic Damper Control) module. The workshop found that one of the connectors was corroded and wasn't making proper contact. Total repair cost was 95 Euro, mainly labor for diagnosing and replacing the damaged cable and connector. Before you head to a shop though, could you share: Which specific error codes you're getting? Does the problem occur right when you start the car or after driving for a while? Have you noticed any difference in different driving modes? This info would help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same issue I had. Working on these electronic systems can be tricky, so I'd definitely recommend getting it checked by a BMW specialist.
