Thanks for the reply! My M3 just hit 38649 KM and had its latest service last month. The symptoms started about two weeks ago, first with occasional stuttering, then the gauge went crazy. Haven't noticed any other electrical gremlins yet. Hoping it's just a fuse like in your case, that would be a much cheaper fix than replacing the whole sensor assembly! I'll definitely get it checked out at the shop this week. Let me know if anything else comes to mind based on those details.

Thanks so much for that detailed insight! You might be onto something with the service timing connection, I hadn't even considered that angle. I'll definitely mention the connector issue when I take it in, along with getting them to check the fuse first.
