Malibu Hybrid Boost Pressure Fault

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid with 34459 km. I'm encountering a recurring boost pressure control fault. The check engine light comes on, engine power is reduced, engine response is sluggish, and fuel consumption is up. My initial diagnostics suggest a defect within a vacuum switching valve. Could this be linked to the bypass valve or the intake manifold?

A 2019 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid experienced a recurring boost pressure control fault, leading to reduced engine power, sluggish response, and increased fuel consumption. Initial diagnostics suggested a defect in the vacuum switching valve, potentially linked to the bypass valve or intake manifold. After consulting a workshop, the defect in the vacuum switching valve was confirmed and replaced, resolving the issue and restoring optimal vehicle performance.

I recall experiencing similar issues with my Chevrolet Malibu a while back. Although mine isn't a hybrid, the symptoms you describe – reduced engine power and poor response – sound awfully familiar. Have you checked for any unusual pressure drops or issues with the pressure sensor? Turbo lag can sometimes be a misleading indicator.

Thank you for your swift response. I appreciate your insight regarding the pressure sensor and potential pressure drops. Could you elaborate on the specific nature of the issues you encountered with your Malibu? Any additional details would be greatly appreciated.

Certainly. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty valve causing the boost pressure to fluctuate erratically. Given that you suspect a vacuum switching valve issue, I'd strongly advise getting it professionally diagnosed. It might save you a lot of time and potential further damage.

I extend my sincere gratitude for your assistance. Following your recommendation, I consulted a trusted workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defect in the vacuum switching valve, which has now been replaced at a cost of 140€. The vehicle is performing optimally once more.
