Malibu Hybrid rough running
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Chevy Malibu Hybrid is experiencing rough running and occasional stalling, with the check engine light on and jerking during acceleration. The spark plugs appear fine, suggesting the issue might be elsewhere. A similar case pointed to a defective ignition coil due to a faulty cable or plug connection. It is recommended to have the ignition coils checked by professionals to confirm the diagnosis and avoid unnecessary part replacements.

Yeah, it kinda does feel like one cylinder isn't doing its job. What exactly was the ignition issue? Was it a pain to fix?

For me, it was a defective ignition coil. Apparently, the cable or plug connection was faulty. Best to get it checked out, especially with those symptoms. Probably needs a new coil but better let the experts measure it before randomly replacing car parts. No need to end like that poor guy who replaced the whole kitchen just to find out it was only the lightbulb.

Thanks! I'll take it to the workshop and have them check the ignition coils. That sounds like it might be the problem. The final bill was 95€ for the replacement, so at least it wasn't bank-breaking. Thanks again for the help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Malibu. Does it feel like one of the cylinders isn't firing properly? For me, it turned out to be an ignition thing. Like when a faulty wire makes your Christmas lights blink all crazy.
