Marea Bumper Antenna Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Fiat Marea owner experienced issues with the remote key fob and starting the car, linked to an error related to the bumper antenna. The problem was suspected to be a dodgy cable or connector. After consulting with others and visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that a corroded connector to the bumper antenna was the cause. Repairing the connector resolved the issues, restoring the car's functionality.

Interesting about your Astra. I glanced at the fuses, but didn't really dig deep. When you say 'related to the central locking system,' are there specific ones I should be focusing on? Did your issue eventually turn out to be cable or connector related?

My Astra ended up needing a new receiver module. Not a fuse, sadly. Given your symptoms and the error code pointing to the antenna, it sounds like a connection problem, as you suspected, or potentially the antenna itself. To be safe, I would suggest getting it checked by a workshop. It could save you a lot of time and potential headaches.

Appreciate the insight from your Opel experience. I took it to a shop. It WAS a corroded connector to the bumper antenna, just like I suspected! 95€ later, and she's back to her old self. Remote works, no more starting issues. Thanks again for the cautious advice!

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra, though it wasn't the bumper antenna. My symptoms were nearly identical: remote key stopped working reliably and some weird electrical issues. Have you checked all the fuses related to the central locking system? It might be a simple fix.
