Marea Parking Aid Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Fiat Marea diesel with 95k miles has a parking aid fault, with the system being non-functional and an error memory indicating a fault. The issue is suspected to be related to cable or plug connection problems. After consulting with others, it was suggested to check the control module and connections for corrosion. The problem was resolved by a workshop, which identified and fixed a corroded connector.

Reverse light is fine. Where is the control module usually located on these Mareas? How accessible is it? Trying to see if it's a DIY job or needs a workshop.

On the Saab it was hidden behind the bumper, hard to reach. But given the reverse light works, it points to the sensors or control module. With these older cars, it's best to take it to a workshop before trying to fix it yourself. It's a 20-year-old car.

Thanks for the insight. I booked it in. It was a corroded connector. The workshop charged 95€ to fix it. It's all working now.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with the parking sensors on my old Saab 9-3. Have you checked the control module itself? Sometimes the connections corrode. Is the reverse light working?
