Marea Tailgate Hall Sensor Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2003 Fiat Marea diesel. It's got 203098 km on the clock. The automatic tailgate isn't opening fully. I keep getting an error about the hall sensor, which I understand tells the car the tailgate position. The error message says it could be a faulty cable or plug. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas before I start taking things apart?

I had something similar with my Fiat Marea, though I am not sure about the year. The power tailgate on mine wouldn't work at all sometimes. The hall sensor controls the tailgate movement. Have you checked the sensor calibration?

The calibration can be tricky. Without proper tools, it's hard to be sure. My problem sounds a lot like yours, and the error message you're getting confirms the faulty sensor. I ended up taking it to a workshop. If it ends up being a connection like the error suggests, it may still require proper tools to ensure proper and secure connections. Thanks! I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but it sounds like the best bet. I appreciate the advice. I will report back when I have gotten it fixed. They quoted 95€ for the repair which is not too bad, if it fixes it.
