Marea Tailgate Hall Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Fiat Marea's automatic tailgate isn't opening fully, and an error message indicates a potential issue with the hall sensor, which monitors the tailgate's position. The error suggests a faulty cable or plug as possible causes. Calibration of the sensor might be necessary, but it requires specific tools and expertise, making a visit to a workshop advisable for proper diagnosis and repair.

Calibration? How do I check the sensor calibration? Is that something I can do myself, or do I need special tools? I'm pretty handy, but electrical stuff can be a pain.

The calibration can be tricky. Without proper tools, it's hard to be sure. My problem sounds a lot like yours, and the error message you're getting confirms the faulty sensor. I ended up taking it to a workshop. If it ends up being a connection like the error suggests, it may still require proper tools to ensure proper and secure connections. If the sensor needs replacing you may need to calibrate it. A workshop is the way to go.

Thanks! I was hoping to avoid the workshop, but it sounds like the best bet. I appreciate the advice. I will report back when I have gotten it fixed. They quoted 95€ for the repair which is not too bad, if it fixes it.

I had something similar with my Fiat Marea, though I am not sure about the year. The power tailgate on mine wouldn't work at all sometimes. The hall sensor controls the tailgate movement. Have you checked the sensor calibration?
