Mark X cruise control failure
Summary of the thread
The 2017 Toyota Mark X experienced a cruise control failure, with the light not activating and an error code present. Initial checks of fuses showed no issues. A suggestion was made to inspect the brake light switch, steering wheel, and throttle position, but these were not the problem. The issue was ultimately traced to a defective cable connection, which was resolved at a workshop, restoring the cruise control functionality.

Thanks for the tip! The brake lights are working, and there's no damage to the steering wheel that I can see. Could it be the pedal switch, or maybe something to do with the clock spring? How would I check the throttle position, and where even is it?

While a faulty pedal switch or clock spring could be the culprit, it's less common than a defective cable or plug connection on the component. Considering the error code, it's best to have a workshop perform a detailed diagnostics. They can read the error code and pinpoint the exact cause. It is likely related to one of the sensors, but without the error description I can't be sure.

Thanks a lot! I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective cable connection like you said. They fixed it for 95€. Cruise control is working again!

I have a similar Mark X, though I can’t recall the year. I also had a cruise control issue. First, check your brake lights. A faulty brake light switch can disable the cruise control system as a safety measure. Also, is there any sign of damage on the steering wheel? What position is the throttle in?
