Matrix ABS lamp and traction issue

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2009 Toyota Matrix (gasoline engine). The ABS lamp lights up, and I'm experiencing traction problems, which means the ABS system isn't working. It's got about 123382 km on it. I've checked the obvious stuff like fuses, but I'm not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Matrix. Is it throwing any codes? When mine did that, it turned out to be related to the speed sensor input to the ECM. Made the ABS go nuts!

Interesting! You mention speed sensor input to the ECM. Was it a specific sensor, or did you have to replace the whole ECM? How did you figure that out?

In my case, the diagnostic pointed to a faulty control unit. I tried cleaning the sensors first, but no luck. Eventually, I had to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They confirmed it and said it was a known issue. Cost me around 1000€ to fix. Honestly, with ABS stuff, I wouldn't mess around too much; get it checked by pros.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. Sounds like it's beyond my skillset. I appreciate you sharing your experience!
