Matrix Emergency Call System Error

I'm getting an emergency call system error on my 2009 Hyundai Matrix with a gasoline engine. The error is stored, the message shows on the speedometer, and a warning light is on. Diagnostics suggest a defective cable or plug. Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Hyundai Matrix owner experienced an emergency call system error, indicated by a warning light and message on the speedometer. Diagnostics pointed to a defective cable or plug as the potential cause. A suggestion was made to check the telematics control module for loose connections, which could disrupt the system. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by a technician who identified and repaired a defective connector within the emergency call system.

I had something similar on my Matrix. Not sure what year yours is, but it sounds eerily familiar. The emergency call system went haywire, throwing errors all over the dash. It was like a Christmas tree of warning lights! Did you check the telematics control module? I remember reading somewhere that a loose connection there can cause all sorts of havoc. Kinda like a loose wire in a Christmas light string, killing the whole strand.

Thanks for the insight. When you mention the telematics control module, are you referring to a specific connector or wiring harness? Is there a particular area where corrosion or damage is commonly observed? Any detail would help.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. I didn't dig too deep myself. I just remembered reading about it. Honestly, I didn't want to risk messing anything up, especially with the safety systems. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. My local mechanic sorted it out quickly. It's potentially a safety issue, like cutting the wrong wire when disarming a bomb, so best to let the pros handle it.

Thanks for the clarification. I've decided to go to a technician. The fault was a defective connector within the emergency call system. The repair was 95€, including parts and labor. Thanks again for your time.
