Matrix Engine Power Loss Whistling Noise

Check engine light keeps popping on in my 2003 Hyundai Matrix, gasoline engine, and the car feels like it has significantly less power. I also hear a weird whistling noise whenever I accelerate. I scanned the car and it shows an error for the charge air temperature sensor. From what I've read, it could be a defective connection. Has anyone else run into this?

I had a similar problem with my Matrix a while back. Same symptoms: check engine light, power loss, and that hissing sound. However, the source of the issue may also be elsewhere. Is the airflow sensor (also known as air mass meter) working properly?

Thanks for replying! How did you figure out the airflow sensor was the issue? Was it also throwing a charge air temperature sensor error, or something different?

I did. The error was related to the temperature gauge and air sensor plausibility. However, I would suggest visiting a workshop. If it really is just a defective cable or plug connection like you initially thought, you might be able to get away with a fairly cheap repair.
