Matrix fuel filter heater issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers on a 2004 Hyundai Matrix diesel experiencing power loss, poor engine response, and increased fuel consumption, with diagnostics pointing to the fuel filter heater. The issue is suspected to be related to a connection problem, possibly due to mileage. Suggested solutions include checking the wiring and plug for loose or corroded connections, particularly focusing on the fuel filter heater cable and contact pins. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by addressing a defective cable connection at a workshop.

Yes, symptoms are more pronounced when cold. Where should I look for the wiring and plug? Any areas prone to corrosion or damage? I'm reasonably handy but don't want to make things worse.

Check the fuel filter heater cable, including the contact pins. Follow the cable to where it connects to a separate plug. If the error persists, take it to a workshop to avoid unnecessary part replacements. In my case, it was the fuel filter heater itself, costing 95€.

Thanks for the help! Your advice was very helpful. Took it to a workshop, and the cable connection was defective. Runs as it should again!

I had similar issues with my Matrix: power loss, engine stalling, stumbling when cold. Does it seem worse when the engine is cold? Error codes also pointed to the fuel filter heater. Check the wiring and the plug to the heater itself before replacing parts. Could be a loose or corroded connection.
