Matrix Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Toyota Matrix is experiencing issues such as a check engine light, engine stalling at idle, and power loss, with a diagnostic code indicating a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor. The problem is likely due to a malfunctioning pressure sensor, as confirmed by another owner who faced similar issues. The suggested solution is to replace the pressure sensor, preferably at a workshop due to the need for specific tools and expertise.

It's giving me a P0087 code – Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low. Did yours do the same thing? And was it actually the pressure sensor, or something else causing it to freak out?

P0087 rings a bell! I messed around with mine for a bit, checking connections and stuff, but honestly, I ended up taking it to a shop. They confirmed it was the pressure sensor itself. It's not crazy expensive but you need the right tools to get access to the fuel rail. I paid around 240€ with labor and parts.

Thanks a lot for the info! Sounds like I'm headed to the workshop then. Appreciate you sharing your experience; saved me a ton of headache!

I had similar issues with my Matrix. Stalling, power loss, the whole shebang! Was it throwing any specific codes related to the fuel injection or just the general rail pressure?
