Matrix Overheating Speed Sensor

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2008 Toyota Matrix (gasoline engine). The engine's been overheating lately, and the check engine light keeps popping on. I've scanned the codes and it seems to point towards the radiator fan not kicking in. I've checked the fan motor itself, and it seems fine. I also verified that the thermal switch is getting power. Could a faulty speed sensor be causing the fan not to activate properly?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my Matrix. Is your temperature gauge going crazy too?

Yeah, the temp gauge is definitely creeping up higher than usual. What was the fix for yours? Was it really the speed sensor?

I'm no expert, but I took it to a shop, and they confirmed it was related to a sensor. Honestly, I'd recommend getting yours checked out professionally before you fry your engine!

Thanks for the heads up! I appreciate the insight. Turns out the speed sensor was indeed the culprit. Cost me around 250€ to get it sorted, but at least the overheating is gone!
