Matrix Stalling Rough Running
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Hyundai Matrix with low mileage is experiencing rough running, jerking during acceleration, and occasional stalling at idle, accompanied by a check engine light. The issue is suspected to be related to a mixture preparation error. Possible causes include a defective injector, throttle body buildup, or mass airflow sensor issues. After diagnosis, the problem was confirmed to be a defective injector, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Interesting, thanks! When you say 'similar', did yours also have the stalling issue? And was the check engine light on constantly? I've read a bit about the catalytic converter too; could that be related?

Yeah, mine was stalling at lights and the check engine light was on constantly. A clogged catalytic converter could be related, but with those symptoms, I'd put money on the injector needing a look. Best get it diagnosed properly at a workshop before throwing parts at it.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on – turns out it was a defective injector. Cost me 515€ to get it sorted, but it's running smoothly now.

Hey, I had something similar on my Matrix. Check your injection valve/injectors first. A defective injector can cause a rich mixture, messing with the air-fuel ratio. Have you checked the throttle body for any buildup, or the mass airflow sensor? These can cause similar issues.
