Maverick Hybrid brake light issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Ford Maverick Hybrid owner experienced issues with the brake lights not working and receiving error messages on the infotainment screen. The problem was suspected to be a faulty brake light switch. After checking the bulbs and considering the possibility of a loose or corroded connector, the issue was identified as an improperly adjusted brake light switch. The problem was resolved by a technician who adjusted the switch correctly.

Thanks for the idea. I didn't think about the connection. Could you tell me where the connector is and how to check it?

Sure thing. On my Insignia, the brake light switch was right above the brake pedal. Look for a small switch with a plunger that gets pressed when you release the brake pedal. The connector should be right there. Give it a wiggle, see if anything changes. If not, maybe time to visit a workshop and have them properly diagnose it.

I appreciate the insight. Turns out it was the brake light switch. The technician at the workshop said it wasn't adjusted right because of something I did, which caused the problem. They fixed it for free. Thanks again for your help.

Sounds frustrating! I had something kinda similar happen in my 2016 Opel Insignia. Brake lights were acting up, and the computer threw a fit. Did you check the connection to the brake light switch itself? Sometimes those connectors get loose or corroded.
