Maverick Hybrid crankshaft sensor issue

I've got a 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid with about 131477 km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light popped on, and I've noticed a definite dip in engine power. The response is sluggish, and I'm burning more fuel than usual. I ran a scan, and it's throwing a code related to the crankshaft to camshaft reference value. Could this be a simple cam sensor issue, or am I looking at something more involved like the timing belt? Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh dear, that sounds quite concerning! While I've not had that exact issue with my own vehicle, my previous car, a 2016 Opel Insignia, exhibited similar symptoms – check engine light, reduced power, and all. Did you experience any misfires or rough idling in that Ford Maverick?

Misfires? Not that I've noticed. The idle seems stable enough. But what did that end up being on your Insignia? Was it also related to the crankshaft?

Indeed! After some consultations with certified specialists, it was found to be a defective crankshaft sensor. Given the similarities, it would be prudent to have your vehicle inspected at a repair shop. Ignoring this problem may lead to major engine damages.

Appreciate the insight. Turns out, it was the crankshaft sensor, just as suspected. Repair ended up costing 340€. Thanks!
