Maverick hybrid engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid experienced a significant reduction in engine power, suspected to be caused by faulty third-party chip tuning. The issue manifested gradually after the tuning. A recommended solution was to have the vehicle diagnosed and the chip tuning reversed by a reputable workshop. This approach successfully restored the engine power to normal after re-flashing the ECU.

Thanks for your reply! The reduced power seemed to gradually appear after the chip tuning, maybe a few weeks later. I'd have to double-check my auto scanner's history for the exact fault code. What did you end up doing to fix your issue, and how much did it set you back?

Okay, a gradual decline after tuning definitely points towards a similar problem. I experienced the same thing. I'd strongly recommend taking it to a reputable workshop to properly diagnose and potentially reverse the chip tuning. I tried troubleshooting myself, but it only made things worse. A proper diagnosis is crucial before attempting any further modifications.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. They confirmed it was the chip tuning causing the issue. They re-flashed the ECU, and the engine power is back to normal. The repair cost me 180€.

I own a Maverick as well, and your issue sounds familiar. Did the reduced engine power start immediately after the chip tuning, or did it take some time to manifest? Also, what fault code are you seeing? That might help narrow things down.
