Maverick intake manifold issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford Maverick with a diesel engine exhibited reduced power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, a loud hissing sound, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggested a potential issue with the intake manifold flap control switch. After professional diagnosis and replacement of the faulty switch, the vehicle's performance improved significantly.

Yes, the engine light is on. It's throwing a generic code related to the intake manifold. Was your issue specifically the flap control mechanism, or something else?

I can't remember the specifics; this was years ago. I recall the mechanic mentioning a valve that wasn't opening properly. If your code reader points to the intake manifold, get it checked by a professional. Could be a quick fix, or something more serious.

Appreciate the advice. I dropped it off at the shop. It was the intake manifold flap control, like I suspected. New switch, labor, and 465€ later, it's running smooth again. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Sounds familiar. My old Opel Astra had almost the same symptoms, though it was a petrol engine. Reduced power, weird noises... it was something to do with the air intake system. I'm no expert, but have you checked for engine light codes?
