Maverick power loss hissing noise

I'm having a weird issue with my 2007 Ford Maverick diesel. The check engine light is on, and the power is way down. It feels sluggish, and I'm getting a whistling noise, almost a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. Sometimes it even stalls at idle, and I think my fuel consumption is up. Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be the boost pressure actuator valve playing up.

I had similar symptoms on my Maverick. Is your mileage high? Could be the turbo actuator failing, causing a boost control problem. Have you checked for any obvious leaks in the turbo system?

Yeah, the mileage is pretty high, around 176754 km. You reckon it's definitely the turbo actuator? Did yours also make that hissing noise?

Sounds like the bypass valve is defective. Given your symptoms and mileage, I'd bet on it. I would recommend taking it to a workshop. That's what I did.

Thanks! I took it to the workshop; you were spot on! Turns out the electrical bypass valve was knackered. New one cost me 250€. Appreciate the help!
