Maverick preheating lamp error
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Ford Maverick diesel is experiencing an issue where the preheating lamp remains on, and an error is stored, likely due to a glow plug failure. Symptoms include rough idle and difficulty starting in cold conditions. The suggested solution is to replace the defective glow plugs, which resolved the issue in a similar case.

Thank you. Indeed, there are symptoms of rough idle and cold start. Can you please provide more details on the issue you experienced?

Yeah, mine was doing the exact same thing. Rough idle, hard starts when it was cold. I took it to a workshop, and they told me it was the glow plugs. Apparently, they're a common issue. I would recommend going to the workshop and replacing them.

I appreciate the advice. I took the car to the workshop, where the defective glow plug was replaced. The total repair cost was 440€.

I had a similar issue with my Maverick. Does it struggle to start when it's cold, and does the engine run rough for a bit after starting? Check your glow plugs, that was the problem with mine.
