Maverick Radio Antenna Error

I own a 2007 Ford Maverick with a gasoline engine and I'm experiencing radio reception issues. The infotainment system intermittently displays an 'Antenna Error' message, and sometimes the audio system is completely silent. I checked the error memory, and a fault code related to the antenna signal is stored. I suspect a defective antenna. Has anyone encountered similar problems?

I had an issue like that. I also drive a Maverick. I got a similar message from the infotainment system. How old is the antenna, and did the problem occur gradually or suddenly?

Thanks for the quick reply! The antenna appears to be the original one, so about 16 years old. The signal degradation was gradual, worsening over several weeks, not a sudden failure. I have checked the antenna base, but it looks solid. Any thoughts about where I should look first?

Okay, given the age and gradual decline, the antenna itself is the most likely culprit. The coaxial cable that connects the antenna to the radio head unit can also degrade over time. The best step would be to go to a reliable repair shop.

Thanks for the insight! As suspected, the issue was indeed a defective antenna. After replacing it at the workshop for 255€, including labor, the radio reception is now perfect again. I appreciate the help!
