Maverick Tailgate Hall Sensor Error

I've got a 2004 Ford Maverick with a diesel engine, and I'm running into a weird issue with the tailgate. The error memory keeps throwing a code related to the tailgate hall sensor, and the tailgate itself doesn't fully open automatically. I've checked the basics, like fuses, but I suspect it might be the sensor itself or a dodgy connection. The mileage is at 38004 km. Anyone else experienced anything similar?

I had a similar problem with my Maverick's automatic tailgate. Check the cable and plug connection to the sensor. It's a common point of failure and can cause those exact symptoms. Give them a wiggle and see if anything changes.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'cable and plug connection', do you mean where the wiring harness connects to the tailgate itself, or closer to the sensor inside the tailgate? Just trying to narrow down where to start poking around.

Yes, I meant the wiring harness where it connects to the tailgate. As a matter of fact, after inspecting everything, the issue persisted and the workshop found out that the wiring was defective internally. It is better to take it to a shop. Hopefully they have the diagnostic tools for the sensor calibration.

Okay, got it. Thanks for confirming! I'll take it to the shop. They found out that the harness connection was defective internally. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!
