Mazda CX3 Diesel 2019: Black Smoke, Check Engine Light, Dropped Power, Unsteady Engine - Possible Boost Pressure Actuator Issue?

Hi! I'm running into a bit of an odd issue with my 2019 Mazda CX3, Diesel engine. I've got quite a few symptoms: black smoke pumping out on acceleration, the check engine light is on, a significant drop in engine power, unsteady and shaky engine, occasional jerks and stalls during acceleration and idling respectively, there's a loud hissing and whistling noise on acceleration. My guess is it's got something to do with the Boost pressure actuator but I'm no pro. Does anyone have a similar experience? How did you get it fixed? Was it a simple repair or did it require a whole lot of work? Any information or insight would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, sounds like you're on a wild ride with your CX3, eh? I've got some experience on a similar issue with my 2017 Mazda CX5, Diesel like yours. Would not call myself a pro mechanic, but definitely got more than just a little knack for repairs. So the same weird stuff started happening to my CX5 a while back. Black smoke, drop in power, the engine was acting wonky. My trusted workshop guys diagnosed the issue as a damaged "wiring harness to boost pressure actuator". Didn't make much sense to me, but hey, they're the pros, right? Got the job done for around 155 Euro (give or take). The ride's been pretty smooth since. Now I'm not one to make any assumptions, but considering our problems are pretty similar, you might be facing the same issue? One thing - could you share some more details about the condition and maintenance history of your car? It'd help to narrow down the cause before you start shelling out the big bucks. Cheers!

Hey! Sounds like you've been through a similar roller coaster, eh? That's given me a sort of relief, to be honest. Yours being a similar Diesel engine and having gone through similar hardships sounds like we might be able to crack this issue. To your point, my CX3 has clocked 142323 KM. Latest service was about 2 months ago. However, these issues started appearing only after that service. They just did the standard stuff - oil and filters. Nothing major. Are you suggesting the service guys could have messed the wiring? Also, 155 Euro sounds reasonable If it solves the problem. I'll have a chat with my workshop guys and bring up the wiring harness issue. Will keep you posted! Thanks again for taking the time to respond! Drive safe! Cheers!

Hey again! These car issues can be a real headache sometimes, huh? But don't worry, we'll get it sorted out. Now regarding the post-service symptoms, it's hard to say if the servicing guys might have messed something up unintentionally. But then again, everything is possible in this world. It's less likely though, as the wiring harness to the boost pressure actuator is not part of a standard service. Since yours is a high-mileage car, these problems could also be due to good ol' wear and tear. Diesel engines can get pretty stressed. Let's not jump to conclusions. Like you suggested, it’s best to bring up the wiring harness issue with your workshop guys. Stay in touch and I'll be on standby if you need any more advice or just a chat. We car guys got to stick together! Cheers and take care!

Hi again, and thanks for the reassurance! It's good to have a community where we can put our heads together and figure these things out. You're right, it's quite possible the issue is due to wear and tear. My Mazda's been through a lot, and I've definitely pushed her to the limits a few times. Like they say, it ain’t a machine if it doesn’t break down, right? Your advice has given me a new perspective. I’ll certainly bring up the wiring harness to the workshop guys and see what they've got to say. I'll update you on how it turns out. Thanks so much for your help. Really appreciate you sharing your experience. Car problems can be a pain, so it's great to have knowledgeable like you around. Until next time, stay safe on the roads, and cheers!
