AUC sensor? Where exactly would I find that, and what should I be looking for in terms of a 'faulty connection'?

Yeah, the AUC sensor – also sometimes called an odor or air quality sensor. It's part of the HVAC system. The likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. But, with that mileage, and if you're not comfortable poking around, it might be worth getting it checked out at a workshop.

Thanks for the insight! Sounds beyond my skill level. I'll take it to the workshop. It was indeed the AUC sensor cable. Repair cost me 95€. Thanks again!

It's a known issue in some Meganes. Have you checked the AUC sensor? Sometimes a faulty connection there can cause weird electrical gremlins.
