Megane Brake Light Error

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2022 Renault Megane electric vehicle. The car has 205917 km on the clock. I'm receiving an error message related to the brake lights, which aren't functioning. An error is also stored in the error memory. Could this be a faulty brake light switch?

I had a similar issue with my Renault Megane. Are you sure it's the brake light switch itself? Check if the pedal is properly aligned with the switch. Sometimes a slight misalignment can cause the switch not to engage properly.

That's an interesting point. I hadn't considered the pedal alignment. Could you elaborate on how I can check the alignment and what adjustments might be necessary?

In my case, the plastic stop pad on the brake pedal arm that actuates the switch had deteriorated and crumbled, so the brake pedal was not fully returning and thus wasn't releasing the switch. A quick investigation of the area around the pedal and switch should reveal if this is the case. The repair ended up being just replacing the missing pad.

Thank you for the suggestion! I checked the brake pedal, and indeed, the plastic stop pad was missing. I fashioned a temporary replacement. The error message disappeared, and the brake lights are functioning again. It seems the repair cost will be 0€. Much appreciated!
