Megane Brake Light Error
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Renault Megane electric vehicle displayed a brake light error message, with the lights not functioning and an error stored in the memory. The issue was suspected to be a faulty brake light switch. However, it was discovered that the problem was due to a missing plastic stop pad on the brake pedal arm, causing misalignment with the switch. Replacing the pad resolved the error and restored brake light functionality.

That's an interesting point. I hadn't considered the pedal alignment. Could you elaborate on how I can check the alignment and what adjustments might be necessary?

In my case, the plastic stop pad on the brake pedal arm that actuates the switch had deteriorated and crumbled, so the brake pedal was not fully returning and thus wasn't releasing the switch. A quick investigation of the area around the pedal and switch should reveal if this is the case. The repair ended up being just replacing the missing pad.

Thank you for the suggestion! I checked the brake pedal, and indeed, the plastic stop pad was missing. I fashioned a temporary replacement. The error message disappeared, and the brake lights are functioning again. It seems the repair cost will be 0€. Much appreciated!

I had a similar issue with my Renault Megane. Are you sure it's the brake light switch itself? Check if the pedal is properly aligned with the switch. Sometimes a slight misalignment can cause the switch not to engage properly.
