Megane Electric Battery Issues

I'm having a weird issue with my 2021 Renault Megane Electric. I've got about 53000 km on it, and recently it's been acting up. Starting the car is sometimes a struggle, like the battery is weak. Plus, some of the car's systems seem to be failing randomly, and the lights are noticeably weaker, even flickering sometimes! What's going on? Has anyone else had this? Could it be something simple, like a loose battery terminal?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Renault Megane Electric with 53,000 km is experiencing starting difficulties, random system failures, and flickering lights, suggesting a potential battery issue. Possible causes include a weak or faulty battery, a loose battery terminal, or a problem with the charging system. The recommended solution is to check the battery voltage and condition, particularly the 12V battery, and consult a mechanic for a proper diagnosis. The issue was resolved by replacing the defective battery, restoring normal function.

Sounds like a voltage issue alright. Have you checked the battery voltage with a multimeter when the car is off? What readings are you getting? Also, is the 12V battery that supports the main battery in good shape? These symptoms could point to a faulty battery, or a problem with the charging system itself.

A multimeter, huh? I don't have one of those handy, but good idea! I didn't even know there was a 12v battery, where would I find it? If it's the main battery, is that something the car would tell me about? And isn't the charging system automatic? Why would that be the problem?

Okay, without a multimeter it's hard to be sure, but those symptoms do really suggest undervoltage. And yes, there's a 12V battery to power some of the auxiliary systems. It's best to get it checked by a workshop. They can diagnose the problem properly, since there are various components that could cause this, such as the voltage regulator. If you keep driving it like this, other electrical components might suffer.

Thanks so much for the help! I took it to a local mechanic as you suggested. Turns out the car battery was just heavily discharged and defective. They replaced it, ran a diagnostic, and everything seems back to normal. Cost me about 290€, all in. Really appreciate pointing me in the right direction!
