Megane immobilizer issue

My 2023 Renault Megane hybrid won't start, it has about 138k km on it. Sometimes it'll fire up for a second and then die. My OBD scanner says the immobilizer is the culprit. I suspect a key programming issue, maybe the ignition control is messed up? Has anyone dealt with immobilizer problems on these new Meganes? Any tips?

I had a similar issue with my Megane! Sounds like the anti-theft system is acting up. Any warnings on the dash related to the key? I suspected the car immobilizer right away. Key battery maybe, but I'm leaning towards a programming problem. Did you try your spare key?

I did try the spare key, but no luck. Same symptoms. No specific warnings on the dash other than the generic 'check anti-theft' light. Did yours completely prevent starting, or just the brief start-and-die thing? I am starting to think more and more that the key programming is incorrect. How was it resolved?

Mine was exactly the same, brief start and die. It's almost certainly the key programming. I wouldn't mess with an immobilizer bypass yourself; it can get really complicated and potentially brick your car. Just take it to a Renault workshop. They can re-program the key for you. It cost me around 45€.

Thanks a ton for the info! Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop. Glad to know it wasn't anything catastrophic. Just got back from the shop. You were spot on! They reprogrammed the key, and it's running perfectly now. Appreciate the advice!
