Thanks for the info! When you say 'sensor wiring,' are you talking about the harness running to the tailgate itself? Or is there a specific connector I should be looking for near the sensor? Any tips on how to check it without making things worse?

Indeed, I am referring to the wiring harness that supplies power and transmits signals to the tailgate, including the hall sensor. Given the delicate nature of electrical components and the potential for exacerbating the issue, proceeding to a workshop may be prudent. The estimated repair cost is around 95€. A qualified technician will possess the expertise and equipment to accurately diagnose and rectify the problem without causing further complications.

Appreciate the advice! Took it to a shop, and you were spot on – corroded connector. They cleaned it up and all is working again. Thanks!

Greetings! I encountered a similar predicament with my previous vehicle, a 2018 Volvo XC60. The symptoms were virtually identical: the automatic tailgate refused to open completely and persistently logged a sensor error. It appears that the hall sensor, responsible for determining the tailgate's position, is malfunctioning. Have you inspected the sensor wiring and plug connection for any signs of corrosion, damage, or looseness? A defective cable or plug connection of the component is the most likely issue.
