Mercedes A Klasse Engine Running Rough

I'm seriously annoyed with my 2009 Mercedes A Klasse with a gasoline engine. It's got 177993 km on the clock and the engine's running rough. The check engine light is on, and it's throwing an error code. Plus, it's jerking when I accelerate. Could this be a fuel pump issue? Or maybe the spark plugs? I'm also thinking engine misfire or the oxygen sensor? I've heard a leak in the exhaust system can cause similar issues. Any ideas?

Rough idle, huh? I had a similar issue with my A Klasse. Did you check the exhaust system for leaks? Seems like a common problem.

An exhaust leak would really cause all that? I mean, rough idle, check engine light, error codes, jerking... all from just a leak?

Yes, it can cause all that. An exhaust leak messes with the oxygen sensor readings, which then throws off the fuel mixture and leads to all sorts of problems. Best get it checked at a workshop.

Thanks! I'll take it to the shop. Turns out it was indeed a leak in the exhaust system. Cost me 265€ to repair. Runs smoothly now!
