Mercedes A Klasse Hybrid Immobilizer Problem

Experiencing an immobilizer fault with my 2023 Mercedes A Klasse hybrid. The car has 55251 km on the clock. The engine either doesn't start at all, or it starts briefly and then cuts out. There's an error code stored related to the anti-theft system. I suspect it might be related to incorrect key programming, potentially affecting the remote start feature. Has anyone dealt with this before? The dealer quoted 45€ for a fix.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The engine would crank but wouldn't fire. Turned out to be a dodgy immobilizer. Have you tried the spare key? Sometimes that helps rule out a faulty key issue. It might be worth checking car electronics for loose connections before looking at an immobilizer bypass.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try the spare key, but the problem persists. When you say "dodgy immobilizer", what exactly was the fix for your Opel? Did it involve reprogramming or a complete replacement?

Yeah, the spare key was the first thing I tried too, no luck either. My Opel needed a complete immobilizer replacement. The anti-theft system was just fried. Honestly, at 45€, the dealer's quote sounds like a good deal. Probably best to let them sort out the key programming and avoid messing with the car electronics yourself.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to the dealer, and you were right – it was a key programming issue. They reprogrammed the key, and the immobilizer fault is now resolved. Engine starts fine now. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
