Thanks for the quick reply I didn't check the used oil for metal shavings If there are metal shavings, does that mean it's definitely the engine bearings, or could it be something else? Also, is there a way to check the oil pump without taking it apart?

If you see metal shavings, that's not good and means there's internal wear, probably engine bearings It's like seeing rust flakes in your water pipes As for the oil pump, it’s hard to say for sure without taking things apart I'd take it to a workshop and get their opinion They can connect a pressure gauge and see what the real oil pressure is

Thanks for the advice I talked to a mechanic and they said the oil pump is bad and needs to be replaced The repair, including parts and labor, cost 755€ I'm also having them check the engine bearings Thanks again

I had a similar problem with my Mercedes A Klasse when the low oil pressure light came on I'd check the oil pressure sensor first, it's a cheap fix if that's it But those noises don't sound good Did you check for metal shavings in the old oil? Sounds like it could be engine bearings if the oil pump is failing Is the oil filter clogged?
