Mercedes B Klasse Fuel Consumption Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Mercedes B Klasse with a gasoline engine experienced increased fuel consumption and a check engine light, accompanied by a hissing sound during acceleration. The suspected cause was an air intake leak, specifically a cracked intake hose. After taking the car to a workshop, the cracked intake hose was confirmed as the issue, and replacing it resolved the problem, normalizing fuel consumption and eliminating the hissing sound.

Thanks for the insight I haven't specifically checked the vacuum hoses attached to the intake manifold When you say vacuum hoses are we talking about the small thin ones or something more substantial Also did your Renault also have a hissing sound or was it more of a whistling noise

Yeah the small thin ones On the Megane it was a pain to get to And yes it was definitely a hissing sound pretty loud when accelerating Honestly it's probably best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop They can do a proper smoke test to pinpoint the leak which is much easier than trying to find it yourself

Appreciate the advice I took it to a workshop and you were spot on It was indeed a cracked intake hose They replaced it cleared the check engine light and the hissing is gone Fuel consumption seems back to normal too Total cost was around 100€ Thanks again for your help

Sounds frustrating I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane Check engine light and all It ended up being a split in one of the vacuum hoses connected to the intake manifold It was like listening to a deflating balloon every time I accelerated High fuel consumption is a classic symptom Did you check the hose running from the throttle body to the intake manifold
