It seems to be happening more when the engine is cold. I don't have an OBD reader. Are you saying the coil pack was the problem on your Volvo as well? Did you experience jerking when accelerating?

Yes, the coil pack was the culprit on my Volvo. It caused similar engine hesitation and misfires, especially noticeable during acceleration. Given your symptoms and the age of your car, a defective ignition coil is quite plausible. I would suggest getting it checked at a workshop. A faulty cable or plug connection is also possible.

Thanks. Turns out it was indeed the ignition coil. The cable connector was faulty. Replaced for 95€. Runs like new now.

Those symptoms sound familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Volvo a while back. A check engine light and engine stalling are never good. Was it doing it constantly, or only when the engine was cold? Did you manage to read any error codes?
