Thanks. I didn't check the fuses, I will now. No unusual noises when I try to adjust it. If the fuses are okay, what's the next step?

No noise is a positive sign. Since the fuses are fine, and you think it's a bad connection, a professional check is wise. Intermittent electrical issues are hard to find without proper tools. The workshop can confirm the faulty connection. Your hunch sounds right.

I had the car inspected. The diagnosis confirmed a defective connector in the steering column wiring. Replacing the connector fixed it. Thanks for the help.

I'd check the fuses first. Easy to miss. Did you check already? Any weird noise when you try adjusting?
