Mercedes C Klasse cruise control malfunction

My Mercedes C Klasse 2010 diesel has a cruise control problem I get an error message and the system is unresponsive I checked the error memory and it confirms a fault related to the cruise control system The car only has 47628 km I'm hoping it's something simple Has anyone else encountered a similar malfunction with their Mercedes relating to car electronics or the fuse box Any advice on where to start troubleshooting before I take it in for diagnostics

I had a similar problem with my C Klasse a while back Cruise control just died, and the error message was pretty vague Before you start tearing things apart, have you checked the fuses specifically related to the cruise control and engine management in the fuse box Sometimes it's just a blown fuse Also, check the wiring harness near the component itself I had a chaffed wire that caused intermittent issues If you have access to a better diagnostics tool than a basic OBD2 reader, that could provide more specific error codes

Thanks for the quick reply Where exactly did you find the fuse box diagram Was it in the owner's manual, or did you find it online Also, when you mention the wiring harness, are you referring to the one directly connected to the cruise control stalk on the steering column, or somewhere else in the engine bay I want to make sure I'm checking the right connections before I potentially make things worse

The fuse box diagram should be in your owner's manual, usually in the section about replacing bulbs and fuses If you don't have the manual, you can usually find a PDF version online As for the wiring harness, I was referring to the one that connects to the cruise control module itself, which in my car was located in the engine bay near the ECU Given the age of your car and the relatively low mileage, it's probably best to have a workshop run proper diagnostics The likely cause may be a defective cable or plug connection of the component My issue was similar, and the repair cost was around 95€ It ended up being a corroded connector that needed cleaning and reseating

Thanks for all the information I checked the fuses, and they seemed fine I decided to take it to a workshop for a proper diagnostics check, as you suggested It turned out to be a corroded connector, just like you experienced They cleaned it, and the cruise control is working perfectly again The total repair cost was indeed 95€ I appreciate the advice
