Mercedes C Klasse diesel transmission problems

My Mercedes C Klasse diesel from is having transmission issues Paddle shifters are useless gearbox slips shifts are rough and there's a grinding noise The car's in emergency mode and the error memory shows a fault I suspect it's the transmission control unit Has anyone else had this and what's involved with transmission repair and ECU replacement They quoted me around 1000€ does that sound right

Sounds familiar I've got a C Klasse too and I had similar automatic gearbox issues a while back Slipping gears rough shifting It felt like driving through molasses Mine was also the transmission control unit Think of it like the conductor of an orchestra if the conductor messes up the whole orchestra sounds bad Did they check the wiring harness too Sometimes it's not just the ECU but the connections

They mentioned checking the connections but didn't go into detail Was your car in emergency mode as well And did you get the grinding noise Also did the 1000€ sound about right for your transmission repair

Yes it went into emergency mode and the grinding noise was there especially when cold The 1000€ sounds right although prices will vary I would recommend you bring it to the workshop Best to get it sorted sooner rather than later

Thanks for the info that's really helpful I took it to the workshop as you suggested and it was indeed the transmission control unit They replaced it and all is well Shifting is smooth again and no more emergency mode Cost me exactly 1000€ Appreciate the advice
