Mercedes C Klasse error lamps and system failures

My 2019 Mercedes C Klasse gasoline engine car is showing sporadic errors, like driving mode malfunctions or intermittently illuminated error lamps. Also, systems related to audio and navigation are failing, and control units shut down. A scan tool shows errors in the error memory. Could this be a serious malfunction or is a simple service required?

Based on your description, it sounds similar to an issue I encountered with my previous BMW 5 series. The intermittent errors and involvement of multiple systems suggest a potential problem with the vehicle's communication network, often referred to as the BUS system. Have you checked the relevant control units for stored fault codes using a scan tool? The malfunction indicator lamp illuminating sporadically is also a strong indication that a fault is present and needs addressing. Ignoring these issues can lead to more costly repairs.

I did use a scan tool, and it revealed several error codes across different modules. Could you elaborate on what specifically constitutes the BUS system, and how a defective cable connection to it might produce these symptoms? I am particularly interested in understanding why the audio/navigation systems seem to be most affected.

The BUS system serves as the central nervous system of the vehicle, enabling various electronic control units (ECUs) to communicate and share data. These ECUs govern everything from the engine management to the infotainment system. A defective cable connection within this BUS system can disrupt the flow of information, leading to a cascade of errors and malfunctions, as the ECUs struggle to communicate effectively. The audio/navigation systems might be more susceptible due to their reliance on data from other systems. I would strongly advise consulting a qualified technician to perform a thorough diagnostic assessment and pinpoint the exact cause of the issue. It seems likely that a loose or corroded connection may be to blame. In my experience the best course of action is to take the vehicle to a workshop.

I appreciate your detailed explanation and advice. I took the car to a local repair shop. They confirmed the defective cable connection to the BUS system as you suggested. The eventual repair cost was 155€. They repaired the faulty connection, and the issues have been resolved. Thank you again for your assistance.
