Mercedes C Klasse Gear Selection Issue

My 2017 Mercedes C Klasse with a gasoline engine is showing some weirdness. I'm getting an error stored, the gear selection display in the speedometer is dead, cruise control doesn't work, and sometimes the engine refuses to start. I'm leaning towards a bad clutch pedal switch. It could be an electrical fault, maybe a dodgy cable or plug. It's gotta be tied to some kind of safety mechanism. Has anyone else run into something similar? I think it might be the switch itself. What do you reckon? Any idea what the expected cost will be? The repair shop quoted around 95€.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my C Klasse. Is it throwing any specific codes? For me, it turned out to be a faulty switch. The gear selector was acting up too. Check the connections first, as that's the easy win. But if the engine won't start sometimes, it does sound like the clutch switch.

Yep, those were all the same symptoms I had. Wiggling the connector probably won't cut it. If you're getting a code specific to the switch, and you've checked the obvious stuff, honestly, just take it to the workshop. It's probably the switch itself, and messing with it too much could cause more problems.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it was the clutch pedal switch, just as we suspected. The cable and plug connection was defective. Replaced it, and everything is back to normal. Cruise control works, gear selection display is back, and starts every time now! Cost me about 95€ as expected.
