Mercedes C Klasse Hybrid Airbag Warning Light

My 2016 Mercedes C Klasse Hybrid has an issue. With 275685 kilometers, the airbag warning lamp is on. Diagnostics say it's a rollover sensor malfunction, probably a defective control unit. I expect a repair around 1000€ involving the SRS or tilt sensor. Any insights on this sensor failure?

I had a similar issue with a 2018 Volvo XC60. The SRS system flagged a fault with the lateral acceleration sensor. In your Mercedes, the rollover sensor is part of the airbag system. A defective control unit is plausible. Did you check the wiring harness and connections to the sensor?

Thanks for the reply. Can you explain which specific wiring harness and connections I should inspect on my Mercedes? I want to be thorough before replacing the control unit for the tilt or airbag sensor.

Check the wiring harness going to the rollover sensor for corrosion, damage, or loose connections. The sensor has a connector. Disconnect it, check the pins for damage or corrosion, and reconnect it securely. Since the error code points to sensor failure and the airbag light is on, I'd suggest having a workshop replace the control unit.

Thanks for the guidance. Your clarification on the wiring harness and connector inspection was helpful. I consulted a technician who confirmed the control unit needed replacing. The repair is done, and the system works now. The cost was about 1000€. Thanks again for your help.
