Mercedes CLA ABS and Traction Problems

My 2021 Mercedes CLA with a gasoline engine is having an issue. At 251904 kilometers, the ABS lamp is on, with traction problems and ABS failure. Diagnostics point to a speed signal fault from a potentially defective control unit. Has anyone seen this? The projected repair is around 1000€, and the speedometer input seems implicated. Could a sensor be the problem?

Whoa, ABS malfunction on a CLA? Sounds familiar! I've got the same model, and I had similar issues not too long ago. ABS light, traction control going nuts, the whole shebang. For me, it was also something to do with the speed sensors. I thought it was just a glitch, but it kept happening. Is the dashboard light always on now?

Intriguing! Your experience offers a glimmer of hope. Could you elaborate on the specifics? Was the speedometer behaving erratically prior to the complete ABS failure? I am trying to ascertain whether a faulty sensor could indeed be the root cause, thus mitigating the need for an entirely new control unit. Was your resolution as financially ruinous as the quote I received?

Okay, so mine wasn't quite as expensive, thankfully. The speedometer itself seemed fine, but the ABS light was always on, and the traction control would kick in randomly, even on dry pavement. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They diagnosed it as a faulty ABS sensor, which they replaced. I'd definitely get a proper diagnostic done before shelling out for a new control unit. It might just be a sensor, like it was for me.

I extend my sincere gratitude for your insightful contribution. Your experience has instilled a renewed sense of optimism. Following your recommendation, I shall pursue a thorough diagnostic assessment prior to authorizing the replacement of the control unit. As it transpires, the resolution aligned with your experience: a malfunctioning ABS sensor. The replacement thereof has restored functionality, negating the need for the more costly control unit replacement. Thank you.
