Mercedes CLA Hybrid Transmission Fault

My 2022 Mercedes CLA Hybrid has a transmission fault. The engine warning light is on and the gearbox is acting up, with grinding noises and slipping when shifting. Error memory shows a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. I suspect low oil level. Has anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Mercedes CLA Hybrid experienced a transmission fault, with symptoms including an engine warning light, grinding noises, and slipping during shifts. The error memory indicated a transmission oil pressure sensor fault, leading to suspicion of low oil levels. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty pressure sensor and topping up the transmission oil, restoring the vehicle to normal operation.

Sounds rough. I had a similar issue on my older car once. It turned out the oil pressure sensor itself was faulty. Before diving too deep, have you checked the gearbox oil level? That’s usually the first thing to rule out. Is it throwing any specific error codes related to the pressure sensor? Knowing the exact code might help narrow down the problem. It could be a wiring issue to the sensor as well. Does the emergency mode come on immediately or only after driving for a bit?

Where exactly is the transmission oil level dipstick on these hybrid CLAs? I couldn't find it last time I looked. And yes, it threw a code specifically mentioning the pressure sensor, but I don't have the code number written down.

Okay, if it's explicitly the pressure sensor, and you can't easily find the dipstick (some newer cars don't even have them), you're probably best off getting it checked at a workshop. Messing with the transmission on these newer cars can be tricky, and you don't want to make things worse. They can properly diagnose the sensor and check the oil level correctly.

I took it to the workshop. It turned out it was indeed the pressure sensor and the oil level was a tad low, like I suspected. A new sensor and an oil top-up later, everything's running smoothly again. Cost me 365€. Thanks for the input.
