Mercedes CLK Diesel Transport Mode Issue

My 2008 Mercedes CLK diesel is showing 'Transport mode active' on the display, causing electrical issues. The navigation is dead, and I'm getting errors. I suspect it's the key fob or immobilizer since this can happen when a car is new and hasn't had its configuration set up. Any ideas?

The 'Transport mode active' message means certain systems are disabled to save battery during shipping or storage. This affects electronic control units, impacting navigation and engine start. A diagnostic check can identify affected modules. The issue may be from incorrect car configuration settings.

When you say 'diagnostic check,' what do you mean? Can I do it myself, or do I need equipment? If it is the car configuration, how do I fix that? Can I reset it with the key fob, or is it more complicated?

A diagnostic check needs specialized equipment to interface with the car's computer and read error codes. While basic OBDII scanners exist, addressing 'Transport mode' usually needs a Mercedes-specific tool, like a Star Diagnosis system. These allow car configuration adjustments and immobilizer resets. Given the symptoms, a qualified technician with this equipment is advisable to avoid complications. The issue could stop the engine starting.

I went to a mechanic with Mercedes diagnostic equipment. The car was still in transport mode! They ran the check, reset the configuration, and cleared the errors. Everything works now – navigation is back, and no more electrical issues. It was covered under an initial setup warranty, so the repair was free! Thanks for the help!
