Mercedes CLK throttle issue

My 2001 Mercedes CLK with a gasoline engine is having issues. Fuel consumption is high and it starts poorly, so I suspect a defective throttle valve. Could a defective accelerator pedal module be the cause?

That's interesting. I had similar symptoms with my CLK, though I didn't track the mileage. Before replacing the control valve, have you tried cleaning the throttle? Is the engine throttle operating smoothly, or is there resistance?

I haven't cleaned the throttle yet. Before I spend money, can you tell me more about your experience with the engine throttle? Did it act like what I'm seeing?

Yes, the symptoms were very similar. The car throttle felt sluggish and fuel efficiency dropped. Given the potential complexity, and the control valve's role, I'd suggest a workshop does a diagnostic assessment before you try fixing it yourself. A defective accelerator pedal module is a possible cause.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was a defective accelerator pedal module. The repair cost 205€. Thanks for your help.
