Mercedes E Klasse ABS and lateral acceleration sensor issue

Thanks for the quick response. That's a good point about the wiring harness. I visually inspected it, but didn't do any serious testing. Could you elaborate on which connections specifically I should focus on? And did your issue eventually turn out to be the sensor itself, or was it indeed a wiring problem? Also, did you experience any issues with Traction control or Electronic stability while the ABS light was on?

In my case, it was the sensor itself. I spent too long checking the wiring, only to find that the sensor was faulty. The connections to check are those at the sensor itself, and at the ABS control unit. Given your symptoms and the error code, it's most likely a defective sensor. I suggest taking it to a workshop with experience on Mercedes. They'll be able to confirm the diagnosis and replace the unit. Don't drive too much with it, since the Electronic stability is compromised.

Thanks so much for confirming that it was likely the sensor itself. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to a reputable workshop, and after their diagnostic, they confirmed the lateral acceleration sensor was indeed faulty, as suspected. They replaced the unit, recalibrated everything, and the ABS light is now gone. The Traction control and Electronic stability are functioning normally again. The bill was close to 1000€ as I feared, but at least the car is safe again.

I had a similar issue with my E Klasse. Same symptoms: ABS light, ABS failure, lateral acceleration sensor fault code. Before you spend a fortune, have you checked the wiring harness and connections to the sensor and the ABS module? Sometimes a corroded or loose connection can cause this kind of problem.
