Thanks for the quick reply. I visually inspected the sensor, and it looks okay, no obvious cracks or damage. Could you describe in more detail what happened when your camshaft sensor failed? Were the symptoms exactly the same (car stalling, check engine light), or were there any other indicators? Was the crankshaft sensor involved at all?

Yes, the symptoms were identical: car stalling, check engine light. I did not have any crankshaft sensor issues. I recommend taking your car to a qualified mechanic to confirm the diagnosis and get it sorted.

I appreciate your input. I took your advice and brought the car to a workshop. It was indeed the camshaft sensor, or rather, as I initially suspected, the encoder wheel on the camshaft was defective, causing the sensor to give faulty readings. They replaced the sensor and the encoder wheel, and the car is running perfectly again. The repair cost was exactly as estimated. Thanks again!

I have a similar E Klasse. I had the car stalling and check engine light too. It turned out to be the camshaft sensor. Did you check the sensor itself for any visible damage?
