Mercedes E Klasse Parking Assist Problem

Has anyone experienced parking assist issues on a 2015 Mercedes E Klasse Diesel My parking assistant has stopped working The error memory shows a fault and I suspect a defective cable or plug connection affecting parking or blind spot sensors

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Mercedes E Klasse Diesel experienced a parking assist malfunction, suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection affecting the parking or blind spot sensors. Possible causes include physical damage to sensors, faulty wiring harness connections, or issues with the control module. Suggested solutions involve checking sensors for damage, inspecting wiring harnesses and connectors, particularly near the rear bumper, and using a diagnostic scanner to read live data from the sensors. Ultimately, a faulty wiring harness connection was identified and repaired at a workshop, resolving the issue.

I had a similar issue with my E Klasse The parking assist went haywire Have you checked all the parking sensors for physical damage Even a tiny crack can mess things up Did you check the control module for the parking assist system Check the wiring harness and connectors especially near the rear bumper those are exposed Use a multimeter check for continuity and proper voltage at each sensor connector Do you have a diagnostic scanner that can read live data from the parking sensors See if any specific sensor is reporting abnormal values or is completely dead

Thanks for the detailed reply I haven't checked the live data yet but I inspected the sensors visually I'll check the wiring harness and connectors as you suggested When you had the issue did the diagnostic scanner point to a specific sensor or was it a general system error

The scanner gave me a general error nothing specific to a sensor It ended up being a faulty wiring harness connection near the rear left parking sensor Unless you are really comfortable with electrical work you're better off taking it to a workshop It saves time and potential headaches They have the tools and diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the fault

Thanks for the advice I took it to my local workshop and you were spot on faulty wiring They replaced a damaged connector and the parking assist is working again Total cost was 95€ I appreciate your help
