Mercedes E Klasse Transmission Issue

My 2011 Mercedes E Klasse (gasoline engine) with 239243 km is having 7G-Tronic transmission problems. Paddle shifter input isn't working, the gearbox is slipping with rough shifts, and there's a grinding sound during gear changes. The transmission seems to be in emergency mode, and a diagnostic scan shows an error related to the transmission control unit. I suspect the TCU may be the problem. What do you think?

Sounds like the TCU is bad. Have you checked the fluid level and condition? Slipping and rough shifts are classic signs. If the fluid's okay, the car computer is probably the issue. Maybe get another opinion?

The fluid level was checked and it's within spec. The fluid looks relatively clean, with no signs of contamination or burning. How can I check if the control module is defective before replacing it?

If the fluid's good and you're still experiencing those symptoms plus the error code, it's pointing to the transmission control. A STAR diagnostic at a good shop is probably the only way to confirm without replacing parts. They can run specific tests on the TCU.

I understand. I will speak with a qualified technician for a diagnostic assessment. The repair was 1000€ including a new TCU. Thanks for the help.
