Mercedes EQV active hood fault

Thanks for the reply! When you say 'similar experience', did your Volvo's actuators actually deploy, or was it just the warning light? I'm trying to understand if the sensor fault itself can cause the physical deployment, or if something else triggered the deployment and THEN the sensor went bad. Trying to understand the sequence of events!

No problem! In my case with the Volvo, the actuators didn't deploy, thank goodness. It was just the warning light and the error message. Since yours actually deployed, I would definitely have a workshop take a look. Messing with airbag and active hood systems can be risky. They can for sure check exactly what happened. I hope you find a good and reliable shop to fix this.

Thanks again for your help and the insights. Just wanted to let you know, I took it to a certified shop, and it was indeed a faulty acceleration sensor. Replacing it seems to have resolved the issue. Appreciate you sharing your experience!

That sounds like a major headache! I had a similar experience with the active hood on my old Volvo a few years back, different brand, same frustrating issue! The message kept appearing, and it was all linked to the pedestrian safety system. It's unnerving when a safety feature goes haywire. Since yours triggered, I wonder if the sensor misread something as a collision?
