Mercedes G Klasse Diesel Fuel Pump Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Mercedes G Klasse with a diesel engine was experiencing starting issues, stalling, rough idling, a check engine light, and increased fuel consumption, with a diagnostic scan indicating a fuel pump error. The problem was suspected to be a faulty cable or plug connection rather than a complete fuel system failure. Upon inspection by a mechanic, a corroded connection to the fuel pump was identified and cleaned, resolving the issue and restoring the car's performance.

A bad connection to the fuel pump relay, huh? Now that's something I haven't checked. Where exactly would I find that? And how did you diagnose it on your Opel Corsa? Was it a simple visual inspection, or did you need special tools?

Well, in my case, the mechanic found it. I think he used a multimeter to check for continuity. Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop; they can pinpoint the problem quickly. It might save you money in the long run. It does sound as if you have a fuel system issue!

Thanks for the advice! So, turns out you were right; the mechanic checked the cable and plug connection to the fuel pump. It was corroded! They cleaned it up, and the error vanished. Cost me 95€, which I'm pretty happy about. Car's running great again. I was expecting a huge auto repair bill. Really appreciate the tip!

That sounds awful. Is it possible that your fuel system is compromised? I once had similar symptoms with my old Opel Corsa—rough idling, stalling—turned out to be a bad connection to the fuel pump relay. Have you checked that?
